Learning to Enjoy Snow

Luna is very much a Florida dog.  She does not like cold weather and she can't stand having wet feet.  So when we experienced an unexpected snowstorm before Halloween last year, Luna just about lost her mind.  She was not happy with potty breaks in the freezing cold, wet, white stuff.

On Saturday morning we awoke to a winter wonderland.  Luna had no idea there was snow since it did not start snowing until after we went to bed.  She greeted us with her typical helicopter tail and play bows as we suited up to take her outside.  Notice in this video her reaction when I open the front door.

Later in the day, I took Luna for a long walk in the snow to see if she could learn to enjoy it.  In no time she was playfully jumping in the snow and following the tracks made by squirrels.  At one point she was very excited and tried to take off running.  Obviously, she didn't get very far with me attached to the other end.

Every walk we take she is becoming more comfortable with the snow.  She definitely does not want to be outside too long, but I've noticed that she very happily walks in the snow and often drags me as she tracks other animals.  I'm glad Luna is learning to enjoy the snow because that is going to be a big part of her world now that she lives up north.
.5 seconds before she jumped straight up in the air to get away.

It always amazes me how quickly the Florida dogs adapt to the snow.

@gyeong - tell that to Ava - she abhors it, the cold and any inclement weather!

Song doesn't seem to mind snow, so long as she is wrapped up well:)

Love the video:)

You should have brought her over. My three went ballistic and had a grand old time in the snow.
